Murphy's Sportfishing 2003 Summer Update and Fall Outlook
Stamp River Fall Outlook:
We look forward to this fall very much, the Coho run should be the same as last year (how can it get any better) and the Chinook abundance is high again, and there is likely going to be some in River opportunities for Chinook Salmon as well. Retention for Coho Salmon is for sure and Chinook limits will be announced shortly. The Riverside Lodge will be hosting our packages again and Kristi and Tracieanne will be cooking up a storm once again for us
Weather your interest is fly, spin or bait cast. The In River fall fishing provides some of the finest angling opportunities available today. The daily limit of Coho is two per day with a possession limit of four. Visit our River fishing Frequently Asked Question page for more information.
Our trips start shortly after day break and have you back to the lodge by 3pm. Fall River fishing is also family friendly, and shore fishing is available during your non-guided time from the property of the lodge. For those looking for other activities, nearby is Golf, swimming, shopping, Stamp Falls Provincial Park and the famous McLean Milll Heritage Site.

Kyuquot Update:
Wow, this summer has been non-stop salmon and halibut action. The variety of Chinook offshore still streaming by in big numbers and the big Chinook are starting to hit the coastline all along West Coast Vancouver Island. By far this has been our best Halibut season ever since we started fishing this area. Our largest Halibut to date is 216 pounds, and the largest Chinook is 48 pounds. But the consistency of halibut in the 30-50 pound and Chinook in the high 20's has been incredible. We keep in mind that many of these Chinook are of Stamp River origin and look forward to meeting them again in Barkley Sound, Alberni Inlet and the Stamp River in a few weeks. We have only one last minute cancellation to fill and that date is Aug 24-27 for three people.
Our 2004 Season is quickly filling up with those who fished with us this season, so if you have not contacted us about your potential dates yet, send us a quick e-mail and we can provide you with the list of available spots for next year.
Here is how Bill and Carolyn Urquhart celebrated their anniversary!
And to everyone who provided us with all those wonderful photos from this summer, we will be posting them all on our website once we get home from Kyuquot.
New TV Shows: David and Marilyn also hosted Daryl Chronzy from the TV show Going Fishing, they filmed two shows which will air this fall and winter. We will be sure to update you when we have the schedule for these shows. Or visit his website for his show schedule and channels.
We will be moving the ship home to Port Alberni, just before Labour Day weekend. David, Josh, Rolly, Matt and Adam will all be working in the Barkley Sound for a few weeks prior to moving into the River for fall Chinook and Coho. Hope to see you again then.
Barkley Sound
The terminal stocks returning to the Alberni Inlet are expected to be large, so we will be packing up from Kyuquot a few days early this year to offer some fantastic fishing in the Barkley Sound approach waters, for the returning mature Stamp River Chinook and Coho. We will be using our lodge in Barkley Sound and have similar packages as Kyuquot, with the same guide team and crew. The dates for these trips are:
Sept 3 -6 3 spots
Sept 6 - 9 6 spots
Sept. 9-12 6 spots
Sept. 12-15 6 spots
Just drive to Port Alberni and we will pick you up by boat and shuttle you to the ship in Barkley Sound.
