Great Tides Shaping up This Weeks Catches

Thick in the peak season now in Kyuquot

Kyuquot Sound Salmon FishingYou hear that it is "always" peak season here and now we are at the half way mark. One full month to go!

Fishing within five miles of shore has been the most productive this week.  Lots of needlefish down deep on the bottom and all species are feeding on those.  We have also found that many of the salmon are stuffed full of krill which is unusual for this time of year.  The krill is also large which is a good sign for ocean conditions and future years.

Fishing 110-170 feet deep with hootchies in both the needlefish and standard size behind fully rotating flashers.  Blue or Green seems to be the best right now.  Glow always works down deep for lingcod and halibut.

The Wild Coho fishing inshore has picked up again. There was about a week where they seemed to have disappeared, but most likely it was just those excessively huge tide ranges that dispersed all the bait and the salmon.
