Stamp River Salmon Fishing Report Sept 16 2016

Sept 16 2016

Opening Week awesome!

Overview:

This past week guests have been having experiences of a lifetime. One fellow has had over thirty hookups in three days while fly fishing. The quality of the Coho and Chinook are beautiful and with a surplus this year retention opportunities also exist.

Both spin fishing and fly fishing have been productive and the fish are already through out the entire rivers system. Since there are a range of regulations in place that open up all kinds of fishing this is a good opportunity for gear, spin, bait or fly fishermen to have good days.

Rain now this week and the Elsie Lake dam has also scheduled a release of water to coincide with the low pressure system to compliment salmon migration. We expect the river to rise and more fish to enter as well.

Regulations:

The daily limit is 4 salmon per day of which:

  • Two (2) may be Chinook of which only one (1) may be greater than 77 cm. in length, and
  • Two (2) may be coho, marked or unmarked.
