Stamp River Salmon Fishing Report Sept 20 2016

Sept 20 2016

Big Push of Chinook!

Overview:

An exciting week with good water conditions.  The cloud cover along with moderate river levels for fall has brought in a big push of Chinook along with the coho.
Guests have been experiencing the full range of options with the ideal river conditions. Mid river spin fishing, Somass River bait fishing and Fly Fishing the shallower riffs as well as the upper Stamp River.
Elsie Lake Hydro Authority has been releasing water out of Elsie on an ongoing basis.  The water is warmer as a result and the fish have not been biting as much as normal.  Water temperature has been dropping by the day and it looks like the excessive flows are rescinding.

Regulations:

The daily limit is 4 salmon per day of which:

  • Two (2) may be Chinook of which only one (1) may be greater than 77 cm. in length, and
  • Two (2) may be coho, marked or unmarked.
