Stamp River Chinook and Coho Now Open!

September Report
Chinook and Coho Runs Are In Full Swing!  Spin - Gear - Fly

Fall Coho on the fly

Regulation Information Link
The Salmon moved into the system with the first low pressure system that hit coastal Vancouver Island in the beginning of the month. There has been a steady steam of fresh Chinook and Coho moving in daily. The quality of these fish is excellent and weather conditions have been ideal for ongoing migration.
Another small rain this week accommodated for a big push again. We look forward to ongoing success all season.

Run Size Update:

The forecast terminal return of adult Stamp/RCH chinook to Barkley Sound and Alberni
Inlet in 2018 is approximately 83,000 (range 60,000 to 105,000).  The predicted adult
age composition is 34%, 52% and 14% of 3, 4 and 5-year old fish, respectively.  With
this expected age composition and a target of 39M eggs, the escapement target is
approximately 23,000.

This means a surplus of 50,000 Chinook Salmon to the system.!
