Medium Levels & Clear ConditionsClear and dropping
Feb 18 2015
|The weekend past and week to date has had good fishing again as more fresh fish continue to move into the system.
Anglers on the trips have been encountering 4-8 fish per day. There are now fresh winter fish through out the system now and all the way to the most upper reaches.
The falls pool and areas below it continue to be very productive.
Now that the river is entering a medium and into lower phase be sure to gear down and use smaller terminal tackle and lighter leaders. The fish will have lots of visibility so tread "lightly" on presentation and cast entry.
The fish are still trending larger than the past years averages. This is great news for Coho Salmon because the Steelhead and Coho all grow up and feed in similar ocean areas, so conditions are likely favorable for both species.
The river conditions graphs below are generated from the upper system near Robertson Creek Hatchery. The lower system is generally higher and has more color, however this data is still very useful as it will indicate the trend. The Stamp Falls data system was wiped out with the past flood and not hearing of any immediate plans for replacement.
