Stamp River Vancouver Island Fishing Report
Fall & Winter Steelhead
Dec 14 2015 (data updated Dec 15 3:40pm)
River trips have resumed and the river is dropping rapidly. The upper is in good shape for boats, still high but the entire river is coming into shape quickly with the lower freezing levels.
Steelhead:
Significant high water events like the one just finishing traditionally brings new fish into the system. It will also result in existing fish making in stream movements upwards as well. All streams feeding the main river have peaked and flows are declining. The freezing level is coming back down which will further slow down river flows as it gets colder. River is still really high, but clearing up quickly. The fish are still looking for salmon eggs so using beads is still the go to tackle. |
