Stamp River Vancouver Island Fishing Report

Winter Steelhead

Jan 9 2016

This Weeks Highlights:

Stamp River Hatchery Steelhead Buck Jan 9 2016 14 pounds
Another QUALILTY fish this week!  This hatchery buck was released and its estimated weight at approximately 14 pounds.

This was the only fish for the day for this group but wow, a fish of a lifetime.

The river is in winter low conditions which is normal when the freezing level remains at low elevations for an extended period of time. Trips this week had varied successes from 5 hookups to only 1 hook up per boat.

Weekends getting booked up.
  • Saturday Jan 16th 1 boat available
  • Sundays  Jan 24 & now booking into February
  • Weekdays lots of options available
  • (David not fishing this winter - sorry)
  Guides:
  • Kevin Barabash
  • Shaun Evans
  • Carey Evans
  • Bill VonBrendle

This weeks weather forecast:
With cold temperatures prevailing expect the river to maintain its low winter levels. Mid week precipitation may raise the river some but with the upper elevations remaining well below freezing not looking like a significant of a change ahead unless it warms up.  The outlook remains stable.
